Use these packing tips and ideas to stay organized and on track with your upcoming home move
Proper packing and packing supplies are essential to any successful move, but if you find yourself out of time or motivation to do the packing yourself, we’ll tackle it for you! We can pack as little or as much as you need. If you’re just in need of supplies and want to do the packing yourself, here are a few tips to help you along the way.
Properly label
This may seem obvious, but it can go a long way in making sure your packing journey stays organized. Make sure you accurately and clearly label all of your boxes when packing so your movers know where to place them at your new home, and you’re able to identify what’s in each box.
Prepare ahead of time
Perhaps our best tip for packing? Start early! You don’t want to find yourself scrambling to do packing as moving day approaches. Create a plan for how you want to pack and go room-by-room, taking on a little bit each day as you work toward moving day. This will help you stay focused and ahead of the curve.
Pack by room
Another important tip is to pack by room and not mix up boxes from different areas of the home. This helps for when you arrive at your new home and are deciding where you want certain items to go. It will also help the movers as they unload the moving truck.
Use original boxes for electronics
For items like TVs or speakers, it’s best to use the original box they came in for packing, as this box was originally designed for them to be transported in. If you don’t have the original box, be sure to use bubble wrap and protect the items as best as possible as they get transported.
Protect your items
It’s important to keep your items protected and damage-free when packing, and this starts by using the proper packing supplies. Using items like packing paper and bubble wrap will ensure items that are breakable or fragile will survive the move. Another important tip to remember when it comes to protecting your belongings: the heavier the item, the smaller the moving box should be. This prevents a heavy item from falling out of the bottom of a box.
